Mercury-Mars
Act I
Amanita muscaria (or American yellow fly agaric) popping up in my brother’s yard as I type this. They are the yellow variation of the more legendary red ones with white dots (think Alice in Wonderland). Beautiful and poisonous.
Have you felt it? Mercury and Mars getting closer and closer together this week? They will join exactly on Sunday here in Pacific Time. But, they have been titrating to effect for a week now. Culminating on Sunday, but that isn’t the end of the story. This will be a three-act play.
Mercury and Mars coming together is the planet of communications, logical thought processes, and the general mechanics of life meeting up with the planet of intemperance, conflict, and rashness. This is a great time to check yourself on how you communicate. If you’re in the market for offering harmonious, polite, constructive information, you may have to step back and actually make a concerted effort to make that happen because this little conjunction won’t make it easy.
Good time to be a victim of theft too. Good time for someone to get litigious on your ass. It will be best defined by how, what, and where it interacts in your chart. For example, I know someone who has this on their natal Sun (vitality) and they just learned they need to yet again get more cancer removed from their face. I know someone dealing with behind their back weirdness at their job (over the planet that rules their MC). I yelled at my students yesterday (3rd house). I listened to an out-of-touch, tone-deaf, cringe-worthy keynote speaker the other day. I’m sure you have been witnessing or participating in situations. It’s very much the weather right now.
Mercury is that friend who is susceptible with who they hang out with, so when they’re with Mars, they’re really good at taking Mars’s bad ideas and structuring a solid plan of action. Mercury will project manage anything, good or bad. So if you find yourself saying, well, that could not have gone worse. Thank Mercury for job well done. Employee of the Month. This transit also has its positive side in that Mercury and Mars can also really get shit done, be mentally sharp in the moment, but there will always be at least that twinge of things being rough around the edges.
I’m pretty sure everyone is feeling this little duo of chaos, but if you’re a Taurus, Leo, Scorpio, or Aquarius rising, it might be extra apparent because it’s happening in those 4 major angles of life. In order of those signs, those topics could be: a relationship/or business partner (Taurus), home/parents/property (Leo), your behavior/or health (Scorpio), your profession/or reputation (Aquarius). And yes, very significant if this conjunction is passing over any planets in your natal chart that are in Scorpio.
The good news is that while M&M are busy enacting chaos over in Scorpio, Jupiter, the great benefic, is watching over by trine from its exaltation, so you might not get ….could not have gone worse, and Mercury won’t get that plaque for failing upwards. Jupiter won’t prevent anything, but will give it a good college try towards a better outcome.
Also, the Libran New Moon is no small thing and will happen this coming Tuesday in Venus’s sign with Venus there in Libra and Jupiter seeing it by square. Between hers and Jupiter’s influence on the New Moon (and Jupiter overseeing the brats), we may feel some positivity in the air for a change, even if it’s just a brief reprieve. Wherever Libra is in your chart should get a boost.
The cardinal signs of Aries, Cancer, Libra, and Capricorn will catch this positive New Moon in those crucial angles: Aries = relationships, Cancer = home/family, Libra = self/body, Capricorn = vocation/reputation.
Let’s end the first act on this high note. Chekhov’s gun has appeared thanks to Mercury and Mars. Stay tuned for Act II when the two come back together because unlike the normal quick pass of this conjunction, Mercury is slowing down and will station retrograde next month, so these two characters have a longer bond together. I don’t love Act II, and I’m pretty sure, the gun will go off then, instead of waiting for Act III. Enjoy October, things are going to get weird next month.
